Sports/Facilities
The Lake Linden Village Park provides facilities for numerous local sports. The baseball field there has hosted regional Little League playoff games. There is a newly-expanded 18-hole disc golf course next to the Village campground on Hiltunen Street. The course reviews and specifics can be seen here.
The Village marina has a boat launch, ample trailer and vehicle parking, and seasonal sites available each spring. The Village park also has new horseshoe pits, two tennis courts and a basketball court.
Locally, Michigan Tech University offers a full spectrum of sports for fans. The Division 1 NCAA hockey program is a member of the WCHA and has produced numerous NHL players. The Division 2 football team has been to the NCAA playoffs and is an annual challenger for their conference championship. The men's and women's basketball programs are exceptional and the women's team has been to the NCAA Elite 8 a handful of times in recent years.
Finlandia University also has a full variety of Division 3 sports including a new football program
There are two ski resorts located within driving distance. Mont Ripley ski Hill in Hancock, MI is owned and operated by Michigan Tech University. Mount Bohemia, about one hour north,is a word-class ski resort that MSN.com called "one of the top 10 undiscovered ski resorts in the world.".
Hundreds of miles of well-developed and groomed ATV and snowmobile trails criss-cross the area and the Swedetown trail system in Calumet, MI (4 miles north) are great for enthusiasts.
