Village Services
The Village provides the following services to residents and, in the case of the water system, to those just outside the Village limits.
WATER UTILITY: The Village bills users of its water system on a bi-monthly basis on January 1st, March 1st, May 1st, July 1st, September 1st and November 1st. The following rates are effective as of March 2019:
Village resident water rate: Base: $60.00 bi-monthly Unit charge: $3.25 per 1000 gallons.
Non-resident water rate: Base: $65.00 bi-monthly Unit charge: $4.06 per 1000 gallons.
New homeowners or landlords bringing in new tenants should contact the Village Clerk's office at 906.296.9911 to update billing information.
GARBAGE PICK-UP: The Village collects garbage weekly on Tuesdays for residents and commercial locations within the Village only. Only garbage in color-coded Village bags, or Village dumpsters, or with a large-item sticker will be picked up. The rates and fees are as follows:
Service costs: A $50 annual fee, billed on the taxes, and a fixed millage of 1.75 mils on the property tax bills.
Garbage Bags: Small blue $5.00 roll of 10
Yellow (medium) $9.00 roll of 10
Large blue $6.00 roll of 5
Large Item stickers: $5.00 good for one item such as chair, table, stove, etc. The following exclusions apply: No refrigerators, freezers, air
conditioners, or freon appliances, tires, vehicle or marine batteries, or items containing corrosive or toxic fluids.
Items are collected on regular Tuesday collection.
Rental Dumpsters: $40.00 dumpsters are delivered on Tuesdays and collected the following Tuesday. Prohibitions are the same as for large
item stickers.
SNOW REMOVAL: The Village public works crew does provide for the opening or widening of driveways. There is a $50 fee and are as time permits for the crew after its regular snow removal operations.
SPRING AND FALL CLEAN-UPS: The Village picks up yard waste such as lawn clippings and branches that are raked out over the curbs and piled in lengths no more than 4'. There are typically three dates in the spring and three in the fall and are posted on this site and in the Daily Mining Gazette.
