Departments
The Village of Lake Linden maintains a Police Department serving the incorporated Village. The roster of officers varies but all are deputized to serve in Houghton County. The Chief is responsible for police scheduling, training, compliance and operations of the department.
The Lake Linden Fire Department is comprised of volunteers from the local community. The roster varies from 15 to 17 members and is run by the fire chief and first assistant. The department's coverage area is much larger than the Village itself and as such is partially funded by Schoolcraft Township.
The public works department is responsible for infrastructure maintenance, snow removal and the water system. It is run by the Public Works Director who reports to the Village Council. The department consists of from 3-5 full-time and seasonal workers.
The Lake Linden Water Utility is administered by the Village Clerk and Treasurer. Approximately 550 Village accounts and 100 accounts in the surrounding township receive bi-monthly billings in January, March, May, July, September and November. The Village also bills for the sewage for the Torch Lake Area Sewage Authority.
