Downtown Development Authority
The DDA History
A Downtown Development Authority was
created by the Lake Linden Village Council on October 17, 1989 pursuant to
Public Act 197 of 1975. A Downtown Development District was created and
boundaries so designated at the same time as the Downtown Development authority
was established. One of the more outstanding features of this important
legislation is that it allows the use of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) as a
means of funding public improvements necessary for the Downtown Revitalization.
The Development and Tax Increment Financing Plan includes a description of the
Development Area, the identification of public improvement and private
development projects, and contains a plan for using tax increment financing.

DDA Projects
The DDA has lent direct financial support for many projects and programs in the Village. The Tot-Lot structure, basketball courts and playground equipment at the beach were all purchased by the DDA. They have funded numerous restorative and maintenance items through the years in the park and along Calumet Street. Current projects include a large monetary contribution for the campground expansion project in 2015, their ongoing flower pot funding along Calumet Street, and the amortization of the Streetscape project completed in 2012.
